Gitte Peng, Field Producer
Gitte is an independent documentary filmmaker in New York City who can do it all: writing, research, desktop editing and dv shooting. She was the field producer for BTF's The Jews of New York, and the field producer, editor and second camera for Shakespeare on the Hudson. In addition to her work for BTF, she has focused on documenting the lives of new immigrant students and has worked under the mentorship of master filmmaker Sam Pollard. She comes to filmmaking following a career in public education reform, most recently serving as Senior Education Policy Advisor in Mayor Bloomberg's administration, helping to develop and oversee the overhaul of the City's schools. She has also worked at the NYC Board of Education and the National Urban League and in various advocacy and public interest law roles. She graduated from Yale College and Yale Law School and completed an intensive in documentary filmmaking at New York University.
